Workshare

I couldn't really think of a right place to put this, so I've put it here.

I'm sure many of you have seen the recent ads for EI that include the new(ish?) workshare program where people receive EI benifits for a couple of days a week while still employed.

I was wondering if any of you have had experience with this program and if so could you answer a few questions for me?

  • Do you feel that you were well informed about the program before it started?
  • How far in advance where you told about what days you would have off?
  • How were you informed that you would be participating in the program?
  • Were you given a choice?
  • Were/are there employees at your workplace who participated in the program (had more days off) than others and why?
  • Was your entire workplace involved in the program or just certian sectors?

Thanks

Many years ago, our company did workshare.

I had hoped to do it, it was summer, and would have enjoyed the extra day off / week; however, our group wasn't allowed to participate.

It went well at first for the majority, but when business kept sliding and some departments were down to two days/week, it got a bit ugly
