So I've been thinking about smoking. I have never done it, personally, which I guess is rare. Many of my friends in high school smoked, but they were always respectful of those of us who didn't. I understood the smoking-as-rebellion thing then, and I understand the smoking-as-a-craving thing now.
I thought I'd share this little archaeological tidbit with you. I thought the most interesting point they make is that the more open and accepting of people you are (in this case, not afraid they'll infect you), the more peaceful the society becomes. Let me know what you think.
So the first Hair! rehearsal was Sunday, and MAN was it fun. We started on Aquarius - fantastic. It already sounds brilliant, and that was us learning the parts! When we get a rollin', it's going to rock people's worlds.
I was blown away by this article. In short, four students at the Emily Carr Institute for Art & Design in Vancouver designed low-cost housing for the homeless. They cost under $1500 each, and were made to be used anywhere in the province.
I encourage you to read the rest of the article, it will make your heart grow two sizes bigger and fill your spirit with hope.
(I originally posted this in the Politics forum, but it hasn't stimulated any response, so a blog it becomes!)
As some of you might know, my significant other is from Barcelona, Spain. I have been very lucky to visit the city many times, and each time I am amazed by its public transit. Many people don't own cars. It's one euro for a metro/bus fare, flat - no zoning like London or Madrid. One euro makes TTC's 2.75 look exorbitant.
I got a part in Hair!!
Readthru's this Saturday. I'm so excited!
So a couple weeks ago, I trucked out to the community theatre studio I've been involved with twice in the last two years, and I auditioned for the musical Hair!. I was nervous; I was excited. I'd been taking voice lessons for four weeks before the audition, and was anxious to show off that I had improved greatly.
(I wrote this as a reply in one of the R&F threads, but I thought I'd share it here as well.)...
