"I'm a born again heterosexual" "and I'm a flying pig"

well, I think that the whole "born again heterosexual" thing is a load of bull, unless you were actually gay by choice... oh, and let me clear this argument up. There are people who choose to be gay, for past relationship problems, or wanting to try something new, or for whatever reason and then there are the people who just were born that way, and can't help it. The people who think all gay people made a choice are probably stereotyping because of one or two people. anyways, back to my original point, I don't belive that the whole born again thing is real, it can't possibly change what I belive to be chemically programed into the brain... what do you think? and what do they do to "change" a person?

Exodus and other organizations like that have a zero percent success rate due to sexual orientation being a hard-wired part of who we are. All they ever do is convince people to go back in the closet.

Yesterday, on Steve and Chris, they showed how to make an edible bacon bowl out of real bacon.  I don't think it was from a flying pig, unless the bacon was flown in from somewhere else.

You asked a serious question gummy and I hope we get back to it. I'll add to what I said and say that Exodus Int. and such are flat out evil. They molest and torture people to try and change them from the person that GOD innerantly created. It's not only sick it's blasphemous. I hope this isn't too heavy.

Very interesting. We're off in X-Men territory! I always applauded the parallels they drew so well. Particularly the third movie:

Dr. Hank McCoy: A major pharmaceutical company has developed a mutant antibody — a way to suppress the mutant "X" gene.
Logan: Suppress?
McCoy: Permanently. They're calling it a cure.

If you were one of the X-Men (oh, just run with it) and someone offered you a needle to change you from a mutant to a human would you agree to it? Rogue decided to (a brave move by the writers). Mystique and Magneto and had it done to them against their will, Angel's parents tried to (unsuccessfully) strap their son down to give it to him, thinking they knew best. After all, who wouldn't want to be normal given the chance?

Not just "normal", but "non-sinful" as well - bringing the analogy back to homosexuality in our own culture.

I don't believe in born again heterosexual. Nothing can be called again, if you were never that to begin with. However I do believe in flying pigs. Here are videos of them.  Flying Pig and son of flying pig.  The banks hire flying pigs in Ottawa to entertain those in back machine line ups, and those that wait for change to come from Parliament.   It's true I have Youtube videos of them,

I disagree that people are "gay by choice."   That is like saying that gay people who have married opposite sex spouses were "heterosexual by choice."  Yes, they chose to be in heterosexual relationships but were they ever really heterosexual?

People that would fit under your "gay by choice" category are more likely bisexual and just cutting out 1/2 the population for some reason (like you said- bad experiences or whatever). No, not every person in the world is bisexual (Kinsey be damned).

I am bisexual myself.  I have been in relationships with men, and am currently in a relationship with a woman.  I don't turn straight when I am dating a man, or lesbian when I date a woman.

A far as the ex- gay ministy thing (always attached to religion...the APA has written out against so-called "reparative therapy") it is a load of bunk.  Two very funny movies, "But I am a Cheerleader", and "Queer Duck", make that point very well.

It's bull.

As you mention in another note, there are almost certainly those who are bisexual who may find it fairly easy to claim to have "seen the light" and become interested in only the opposite sex. But for someone who is totally same-gender oriented, changing that is no more "real" than it would be for a fully opposite-gender oriented person to change theirs.

Kinda like the old Jewish conversions to Christianity during the Inquisition IMNSHO

gummy.  The letters of the movement are GLBT or LGTB or some configuration.  Do you think that gay/lesbians are helping out bi's?  Man, bi's get so much crap from the GL crowd that it's just plain nasty.  And, bi's are not doing it to satisfy society.  It is an honest shildhood understood and spiritual longing to see deeper into people than the just the sex parts to aknowledge the validity of the dual gender and see it as one not two.  It is deep and you never get over it even if you choose to be with someone who happens to be of one gender or another.

I've heard some strong arguments against the existence of bisexuality, as well as scientific evidence that homosexuality is biological.  Taking this into consideration, I see bisexuality as being sexually attracted to one gender in the traditional manner, which can be integrated into a strong relationship, while also having intense feelings towards the other gender due to aesthetic appeal, from which sexual attraction is derived.  What do you guys think?

(I tried to quote you jlin - but somehow I stuffed it up!)

I'm responding to your post.

I just assumed that bi's were physically attracted to both male and female bodies - and have often wondered how that could be - seeing that they are so different?

Maybe this concept of spiritual longing is connected - jlin, can you develop this idea further as I'm not sure what you mean?

I worry that you're saying that people who aren't bisexual don't have a spiritual longing to see deeper into people than just the sex parts. If I better understood what you mean by bisexual people acknowledging "the validity of the dual gender and seeing it as one, not two" — an acknowledgment that (I think you're saying) no non-bisexual person is neither capable of nor interested in — then I will better grasp your overall position.

I like lots of things that are very different from each other - broccoli, giraffes, the smell of paper, ballet, red hair...  I can easily see why someone would find two very different human bodies attractive.  Or neither.

Possum, "liking" is one thing - having sex with is another.

Okay, I admit I'm out of my depth here - just trying to understand, that's all.

As I explained to a gay friend.  I kissed my first boy and it was amazing.  I kissed my first girl and it was exactly the same kind of amazing.  The connection was sexual but it was, most of all emotional.  Yes, of course I can get attracted to both body types and it utterly amazes me that people find this weird.  To me it is just all the time.  I am in a committed relationship, so of course,  people I get attracted to  are all just       art.  I mean really, who am I, anyway?

I don't know if being bi is just the way I was raised ( to be open to the human being and body) or not.   This is likely what annoys gay/lesbians.  Still, I know that trying to be anything other is just suppression of bisex and it's manifestations are rude.  I see that all around me.

You know, this is absolutely terrible, but I don't remember.  I saw a documentary once and looked into the debate some more a few years back.  I was probably too quick to word it as "strong arguments."  Either way, from my biased point of view, I observed behaviours in friends, and from that I developed my own ideas.  There's definitely a phenomenon, and it definitely involves sexual attraction to both sexes, so I chose to interpret what I had heard as seeing it purely from a biological urge/instinctual level, and ignoring higher mental processes.  To be honest, I havent thought about it for a while.

Warped_Purity's picture

I should also make it clear that I don't disbelieve in bisexuality, I just accepted that there was science behind it that I had no way of disproving, and saw that as a single factor in a larger picture.
