From the flight simulator in Mississauga?
My wife has been following that storyline with some interest. Not so much Flight MH370, but the CNN reporter who has spent about a month in Toronto with flight simulator dude, asking him questions like, "What do you make of the fact that the pilot had a flight simulator at home and deleted files?"
"I delete files from my computer all the time. I don't think it means anything."
Completely undermining the next 24 hours of CNN programming, spent speculating what could have been in those deleted files.
Imagine you're that reporter. You live in Atlanta with your wife and kids. You're sent on location, not to Malaysia, not to China, not to Australia, but to Toronto. For this assignment, you're not talking to anybody involved in the search, but some guy who happens to have a Boeing 777 simulator, and who refuses to be impressed by your leading questions and routinely makes you look like an idiot. You miss your family, you missed the Braves home opener, and as you freeze your ass of in April, you miss the Atlanta weather. You've visited all the strip clubs in the vicinity of Pearson Airport, and you just want to go home.

At the risk of derailing the thread further, CNN's "coverage" of MH370 has pretty much ended any chance of my taking them seriously (hence my joke). They are still hammering it weeks after it's become just another story to other media.

They found a pinging noise in the ocean. If it leads to a black box, that's something to report. The search brought attention to the massive garbage patch in the ocean. That's something to report on all on it's own- however, until they have something to report about the plane, they're wasting time. I don't watch CNN. I go to their website to read sometimes. For the sake of the families who lost loved ones, don't lead them on until there's something substantial to tell them.
Oh. I already voted. :)

My folks watch MSNBC. That network is Chris Christie, all the time. The bridge fiasco was a blemish on Christie and hurt emergency response times, possibly contributing to one death. MSNBC thinks it was mass murder. CNN hardly mentions it any more. I don't think FOX News ever did.
The news networks are actually getting worse.
I already voted, but I dislike bumping threads with one word.

For those who haven't voted yet. Please do. It's a very simple anonymous vote that requires two clicks. Yes or No. That's it. Takes 15 seconds approx. Link is in Mendallas opening post that has been placed on the opening of this thread.
It doesn't matter how frequently or infrequently you use this site, your vote still matters.
Thankyou!

While I have come to care very much for the people of this community, I have not ever liked the premise WC was based on.
Theology (knowledge of God) is an important (the most important) topic. I feel UCC was very irresponsible in the way WC was launched and handled from day one.
Setting up WC, I think they had an obligation to be shepherds to the people invited, but did not do that.
So I'm not voting for more of the same.

You'll be welcome on WC2, SnP, even if you don't vote. We don't see eye to eye on the spiritual front, but anyone with 5 barbecues and the knowledge to use them well is okay with this ape.
And it is hard to be shepherds when you're inviting open discussion. If someone wants to try to play that role, they are welcome to but don't expect sheep who will just go where they are told.

The UCCan wanted a discussion forum, not a Christian bubble. What you want is a warm cocoon of pro-Christian sentiments and teaching, protected from outside influences and ideas, and that was never their purpose, from what I understood.
There are places online where you would be embraced and I'd be banned. If that's the protection your beliefs want and need, you can find that elsewhere. I'm happy Wondercafe was created as it was.
So I'm not voting for more of the same.
Then feel free to vote against the mission statement. That seems to be your position.

The UCC wanted to draw a certain demographic into the church.
They had a chance to demonstrate why Christianity is a viable world view. They couldn't pull it off because they have reduced Christianity to an unrecognizable pool of sludge.

I hear that you're discontented SnP...but I knew I could find a metaphor for your metaphor:

SnP... You do realize, brother, you could have voted "no", as some did. I feel that it's important for us all to remember in any future votes to come that we don't have to vote as we think the future admins want us to, nor as general consensus seems to be going.

Most of the UCCan types can defend their faith way better than you can. You paint yourself in a corner at every available opportunity. I think your best contribution is being one more example of the sort of Christian that the UCCan'ers would like to pretend are a small minority of the total population. Thanks for being there for me.
