The Last Blast

I hope!

For those that live in sunny climes, I awoke this morning to a cold north wind and falling snow - go ahead, be green with glee.

For my fellow northerners, I found this cartoon yesterday (did I mention that I get to surf the net looking for cartoons at work - I love my job)...

Redhead may appreciate it as well.

Oh, how I loath this miserable place. If Canada weren't such a great country, I'd already be in Mexico.

Waking Saturday to snow, the wife was her optimistic self.  I was talking about spring flowers and the lilacs, but I am not a newbie and not delusional. I just have had enough. So, I also mentioned the snow never ending and reminded her we had snow on May 24 weekend before

She said, "Quit grumbling. This will be it..."

That is where I tuned out. Shhh don't tell her.

I was listening with one ear or something. I got the gist of it. She said something about her being right. (I was thinking about putting the snow shovels away). There there was some stuff about Spring Snow a book she read by a Japanese guy. She also said I would love it.... I told you I was listening...

Now, you know why I tuned her out. Did I ever mention she speaks circular? She would tell you "it is a Libra thing" and then something about neutral mind ...(I don't know where it goes from there, I have her tuned out)

The snow before last,  she said some stuff like she actually reads Farmer's Almanac secretly .She did not get this from Hello magazine, for sure. It was about needing the spring snow to help melt the rest of the snow.  [ Note: she did not use that one again as all the other snow had already melted and she was not about to concede it may be purposeless, useless snow]

Then, we awoke this morning to MORE snow.

She said "Quit grumbling, this will be the last one.... Didn't I tell you? Aren't you glad you left the shovels out like I told you?"... Then, she said it. No, not more mention of the Japanese guy's book. She dared to look at me and say, "Isn't it pretty though?"

Finally, her optimism and cheery attitude about snow was contagious and I caught it. It was that, or murder.

I was thankful there was a good coating of new fallen snow.

I excused myself and went to clear the car off.

If it snows the rest of the week, like they are forecasting, I will have to learn to love spring snow or will be typing from prison.

My snowshovel is still leaning by the front door.  I was going to put it away this past weekend.  I didn't believe it when I saw that snow was predicted for this week.  I thought it would be the slightest sprinkle and it would melt as it hit the ground.  Nope.

It's rude.

Even the birds are offended.

Where I am, I didn't get snow although there was a small amount of slush gathered on my windshield but it didn't stay on the ground.  But it is cold and rainy and construction season has started and I am now forced for the next month to alter my route to work.  The new route is very inconvenient and takes me an extra 15 minutes! (which was more than my previous travel time in total!!!)...cms

Oh I really feel for you guys. I really do. But....I just have to gloat....just a little bit. No snow here! Glorious sunshine, about 12 degrees, birds singing, the tree outside my window is loaded with cherry blossoms, daffs blooming in the garden. Spring is definitely here.

Namaste,

You said you really feel for us... It sounds like my mom's fav saying "I feel for you, I just can't reach you."

Pretty my eye!  As I headed out to work, I was covered head to tow in a thick white, wet coating.  After gracefully sliding to and fro, I finally was able to stop the truck on the road and put it back into 4 wheel - this, of course, because I waited over a week before taking it out of 4 wheel, listening to the grinding of the wheels around every corner, and forgot I was in 2 wheel.  Then I went to YIGs, stepped out of the truck into a pile of slush that went over my boots - boots that had done me fine, thank you very much, all winter!  Spring snow sucks!

I'd be really annoyed but I'm spending what little energy I have cursing Bell Hosting and the inability of their software to talk nicely to IE's latest upgrade - which by the way I figured out all on my own because after two weeks the "third tier" support hasn't got back to me.   My fix is a constant refresh that sends me back to the beginning and taking hours to do something that should take minutes.  Arrrrgh!

LB - seriously in need of sun - I'm solar powered, dontchya know.

I'm dreaming of a white Easter
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten,
and children listen
To bunnies laying eggs in the snow

It's 16 above at my house and the snow is all melted except a few patches in the big trees.  I took the cover off the BBQ and played outside all day with Charlie...sorry if that makes it snow fellow praire folk....I just couldn't help myself!

Stevie....you know that I think snow is fabulous but I have to agree that even snowlovers have limits!

According to my weather dog, the 5:30 am report is - Light dusting of snow on fur.  A major depression will move in to the mental landscape at sunrise ....

I'm sorry you're still snowbound - I've never lived anywhere where it snows. (Like the man says "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" - it's the only way I'll experience snow at Christmas!)

It doesn't do you any harm, from my observation - cold climate, warm hearts.

Swings and roundabouts, we get to feel the warm sun on our skin - but we pay for this sensuous pleasure with the world's highest skin cancer.

Today I calmly said, "I am heading out to mow the grass". The wife looked at me like I was a bit more eccentric than usual and simply asked "Is that code?" My response, "Yes, I leave to move the one who shall not be named."

Now, I recall it from Monty Python's Life of Brain... The wife reminded me it is also Lord Voldemort (which I forgot but agree) and also something trekkie... (really?????)
