Greetings gentle wonderfriends.
With Redhead's permission, I am starting a group for us to gather and give our presence and support to Redhead
Redhead of course, didn't want to make a big deal of it, but we agreed that it would be important to offer a place at Wondercafe for friends to drop by and chat.
Bailey and Lucy are keeping Redhead company and keeping things real by catching lots of rodents. Ninja vanquished a dead star-nose vole that Lucy was toying with. On this beautiful spring day we invite you join us.

Oh Redhead, I have so missed much on WC of late. I haven't been around all that much...travelling, school, life, family challenges and more.
But I want you to know, my prayers for you are only ones of life. A life that is healthy, affirming and full of God's presence.
Blessings to you,
Grant
(someone who doesn't come to WC all that often these days)
This is the closest way to describe what Iam currently experiencing . I had abnormal EMG results. I have no distal reflexes from my knees down, nor do I have reflexes in my arms. I have pain ascending all the way to my neck, external numbness up to the forehead, and I have diminished olfactory and taste sensations, and the muscles controlling swallowing and my larynx have been only slightly affected. In addition to the other descriptions of pain, I feel compressed from my neck to my ankles, as if I am in a wrought iron body cast that is twisted slightly tighter every so often. Although I experience external numbness, I feel all the pain des cribed below, all the time. I have a sensation of vertigo that is preset all the time, so I feel as though I am falling forward and slightly to the right of my body. I have anaggressiveand somewhat atypical presentation of what is described below. fyi GBS, Lyme disease, Lupus, and heavy metal poisoning have been ruled out (altough I thinkof theHouse episode in which the heavy metal used to off a spouse was gold dust...hmmmm......perhaps the felines do not love their two0foot as much as they proclaim...)
At this time my neurologist is calling my condition General Sensory Polyneuropathy (with atypical motor damage). My neurologist suspects that i have neoplastic disease and we await antibodies testing results from PMH; it can take up to two years to find the malignancy, at this time it may be as tiny as a grain of sand, yet my body's autoimmune system and started attacking it, i.e. me. In the meantime,we control the pain with the drugs mentioned below as well as time-release morphine and rapid release morphine for pain breakthroughs.
Sensory Peripheral Neuropathy
Sensory peripheral neuropathy is a quite common disorder characterized by tingling, aching, burning, searing discomfort beginning in the toes and spreading to the soles of the feet and then to the tops of the feet, the ankles, and on occasion, the knees. The symptoms are symmetrical and even in distribution, and seem to depend on nerve length. Numbness of the feet, which is usually also painful, frequently occurs. The nerves most affected are the small-diameter fibers that carry sensations from the skin. A person’s motor strength, balance, and (usually) reflexes remain intact. Generally the problems do not rise above the knees, though some people’s fingertips and hands may also be affected. Outwardly, individuals with sensory peripheral neuropathy appear normal, and friends, relatives, and colleagues may not realize the discomfort they feel.
An electrodiagnostic study of this condition yields relatively ordinary results because it is difficult to measure abnormalities in the small diameter sensory nerve fibers. All test results for a systemic disorder usually come back normal as well. A specialized skin biopsy may pinpoint the problem but not the cause; this type of test is done only at certain academic medical centers. There is no known cause for this disorder.
The usual medications for treating sensory peripheral neuropathy are antiepileptic medications, particularly gabapentin, and tricyclic antidepressants, mainly nortriptyline and desipramine. All have selective effects on pain. Such treatment is not a cure, simply a way to reduce symptoms. In fact, there is no known cure for this common and frustrating disorder.
Hi Redhead. Hope your day is comfortable. I am thinking about you.
LOL Redhead. Well, that's um....a very....um...special....present.
thought all of you might find this funny; for my bday present, i got my very first catheter - yeah!!!
please see rh says thanktyoum where im have posted to all of you as well.
Sending gentle thoughts your way.
Greetings!
Lazy, or sometimes so busy their crazy, Saturday days . . . thinking of you on this one, Redhead.
Hope, peace, joy, love . . .
Hmmm...whataya think John?? Maybe vanilla with a swirl of Frank's Red Hot???
Hi Busymom,
I've said "shit" more in this group than I have in the past year!
I'm afraid that might cost you your reputation as a vanilla poster if that gets out.
More extract of vanilla. All that vanilla goodness but with bite.
And I do not throw food. I just pass it with zeal.
Grace and peace to you.
John
.... to what everyone has said my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I cannot know what is important to you, or how you "procee" this experience. But I can see, from your effect on others, how very dear you are to them and therefore how much grace you must bring to those around you.
I wish you strength, I wish you love, I wish you the comfort of those Hands in God in Creation who are supporting you now.
David
Greetings!
Just popping in to wish Redhead greetings for the day. And wishing of course an abundance of . . .
Hope, peace, joy, love . . .
I've known about Redhead's situation for a couple of weeks now. I'm crying as I type this. I cry because of the unfairness. I cry because Redhead has become a beloved friend and I so hate that she has to go through this. I'm mad that I probably won't ever get to meet Redhead in person because I live too far away from her. She is my wonderful wonderful friend, and I pray for her everyday and send her lots of long distance hugs and lots of love. I am so very blessed to have her as my friend.
I'm here too, sharing in the rant /stomp/whine/thing that Pinga was doing.
And I'm in the gta as well - so ditto to carolla's comments...
hugs & ice cream for everybody!
(((Redhead)))(((cjms)))(((Bailey)))(((lucy))) You'll need a warm cuddly sweater today.. Bright Blessings
hi; can't sleep in... had a 4 hour nap yesterday...
Good morning, Redhead, you are up early today!
Will be thinking about you this week. I hope all goes well with your hospital stay ... P3
I'm a little late in coming to this group and I really don't know what to say....guess I'll just go with the others and say "shit!!!" I wish I knew what to say. This doesn't seem like enough. Though nothing I say will be enough. I'll just let my tears speak. Too bad people can't see and hear me. Redhead - just know that I'm thinking of you, praying for you, crying for you (or with you as the case may be), and sending you thoughts for peace and strength.
(((Redhead)))
lb - is that recipe for sharing? Sounds divine! And with CHOCOLATE!! I'm drooling....
Ah, Red and the Blond will be happy to meet you. He will bounce and bounce high.
By the way did I mention, I have the perfect lime cheesecake recipe which could possibly be improved upon by the addition of chocolate. We can experiment - I will make both!
Good Saturday Morning. It is Orthadox Easter this weekend and so a good excuse to eat all the nummie Ukranian dishes - However, icecream does sound better this early. Have a good visit with cjms . See you later.
p3, possibly...or we will eat thehuge ghirardelli twilight delight dark choc bar...:)
Hi Redhead,
Glad to hear you have a friend with you!!!
What's for lunch? Egg salad sandwiches?
cjms is here with me, and when sh awakes, i am certain that she will share a chunky monkey brekkie :) thx
lb, a true tail - i hope to meet the blond ;)
I had to look it up -- Banana icecream with chocolate chunks and walnuts.
(Sets a big bowl with two spoons in front of Redhead).
Snuggles to Redhead, Bailey and Lucy. Opens door to let out those murderous vole predators.
Off to work. Will check in.
Sheesh, this format is more confusing the other - it says there are no posts but there are, words appear in subject lines that were not typed - has it occurred to anyone that Wondercafe is an alternative universe, hmmm.
Ducks from the large melon flying through the air
Ah, Red you are more than welcome and truth be told the porcupine story needs to be told in person since the visual of a dog bouncing all over a truck for 35 minutes is so much easier to convey with body language - not to mention that you will meet the Blond and immediately know that my tale is true and not tall.
Keep practicing your fruit tossing, we shall have a competition when you come and see if snapping turtles prefer lemons or limes.
Thinking of you, Redhead. I was wondering why we weren't seeing very much of you around the cafe ... P3
I forgive you for "shit" busymom Is my forgiveness worth anything? Redhead, here are some smiles and chuckles. The WonderCafe choir are in the next room practicing to sing you a song of love. Stay tuned.
I've said "shit" more in this group than I have in the past year! Please forgive my foul language.
Hey! Just noticed!
Did you know that if you don't write a subject line, the first few words of your post will be your subject? So, LBMuskoka, your subject line said "I'm with Rev. John. Shit!" In the midst of a sad, and concerning time and discussion, that subject line made me laugh out loud! And Crazyheart's subject "Shit does sound appropriate." *snicker*
Busymom tosses grapes at the whole room and dodges a lime. Redhead, you know I'll be with you on this journey. By the way, duck! Whew! Rev. John was tossing a few curds at LB I think!
