I used to think anyone was better than Bush.... until Huckabee came along.
I am really hoping that this becomes a historic election for the US, with either it's first black or female president. I think something that radical will serve to really propel their nation forward, and they can hopefully leave these last years of intellectual stagnancy and democratic regression behind them... for a while at least.

I've been following fairly closely. It's kind of hard not to pay attention since our media is so influenced by the United States. Personally I find Barack Obama to be the most inspirational candidate, although, as his critics have said, he lacks the long-term experience of Clinton and others.

I agree with cate. I think it would be great if the next president is a far cry from the caucasian male stereotype that has been ruling over america. Change is good :)

Having lived in the US and some very good friends there - they want to get rid of the republicans and move to the left - they actually think there are better candidates than Clinton and Obama - change needs wheels - however the idea would now be Clinton and Obama - that would really change the face of the US - Clinton has a stronger health plan proposal - but at the same time Obama does stir the imagination - thus either would be step forward but best of all would be Clinton/Obama ticket.

Shamefully, I must admit I understand very little of the mechanics of the US electoral system, other than thinking it's really messed up... Pan, do you know if that's an option (Clinton/Obama ticket)? How do they select their VPs?

There is only one candidate that makes any sense at all. Ron Paul 2008. Join the Revolution.
