I'm not sure what it would accomplish ... any thoughts?

Is this about a Federal Election?

If so, then I vote no. We're already voting this fall in Saskatchewan, I don't want to get too involved in politics in one season!

At first I was going to vote "No" because I don't think we "should" need one. I am concerned, however, with the way Stephen Harper is running and governing Canada. He has kicked out two of his cabinet folk for representing the views of their consitituents and voting against the "Party line". I thought he would do well, but slowly I am realizing that he is about imposing HIS particular views on the Country and not interested much in what we have to say.

It is not that I necessarily think he should lose the election. I just think that having an election will remind him that he is "a servent of the people". He needs to be humbled. If he wins, I will accept that this is the kind of man the people really want. I always trust in the people's ultimate judgement. Sometimes this is a process of learning over time. I can't say that the Liberals are much of an alternative at this point and the NDP (whom I used to support) need a new leader. I would want to hear what they all have to say this next time around. Might the Green Party move up in the ranks. Yes, elections are expensive and tiresome, but this man is very out of touch with a governance model that indicates to me that he has more than his own political agenda in mind.

So I say we need a Fall election to hear what all of the parties have to offer us NOW, with the global warming "crisis" etc. I want to hear their views on this. Much has changed in Canada in the past 6 months. We have a rash of teen murders, increased homelessness problems as well as environmental concerns. Bush has become a terrorist and we are confused about our role in other countries now that we are no longer "Peace Keepers". With all of these changes, I need to feel that I am being represented well by a Federal leader and party. Right now I don't know where any of them stand.

I have no more vacation days left, so I can't work the election. For that reason, I would not want one until next year.

We are way too lazy in this country. We need an election to show our support of the environment, poverty reduction, and a foreign policy based on peacekeeping and aid - not war-making.

I wish we could vote more often!
