Even more so, she shouldn't have cancelled and then blamed everybody else for it.

This speech was cancelled by the organizers and not by the university or any governmental authority.  The organizers elected to close the doors before the hall filled and then subsequently cancelled when it was realized they had failed to assemble a claque of supporters as first assumed .

The production and its eventual cancellation, was, from beginning to end, a piece of political theatre stage managed by Ezra Levant who seems to have enlisted the help of the Young Conservatives (sometimes affectionately referred to as the Young Nobs) on campus to promote and organize this travesty.

A quick review of Levant's bio in Wikipedia shows that Levant is a somewhat louder, more brash David Frum clone who has earned himself a certain amount of notoriety  accusing the University of Alberta of racism for instituting an affirmative action program of hiring women and aboriginal professors. His actions outraged aboriginal law students, feminists, and a number of professors, and he was called to a meeting with the assistant dean who advised him of the university's non-academic code of conduct and defamation laws.

When not stirring up trouble at universities across Canada Levant spends most of the rest of his time "getting his ass sued off".  For instance, in 1988, Levant wrote a Reform Party fundraising letter in which he made defamatory remarks about Alberta Progressive Conservative Senator Ron Ghitter . Ghitter sued for defamation and in 2000, Canadian Alliance MP Rob Anders and Levant admitted liability and issued a formal apology to settle the suit.

Lawyer Richard Warman is suing Levant, Kathy Shaidle, Kate McMillan of Small Dead Animals and several other conservative bloggers for libel over statements made about Warman on Free Dominion.[33] Levant has denied any wrong doing.[34]Levant is also being sued by Warren Kinsella for libel, asking for $5,000,000. Levant has denied the charges.

Levant styles himself as a champion of free speech but close examination shows that he condones the stifling of speech not supportive of his far right positions.
