No answer is suitable for people in the Calgary area. We see brown grass most of the winter. Brown grass in January is certainly no herald of May flowers.

So sorry, Jeffery.
We, in S. Ontario are looking at hills of snow.
The kind that gets people talking about running out of places to pile it.
Talk shows are how to protect yourself from a spring flood in your basement.
It is absolutely beautiful.
It is also scary, as well.
Youngesters stand on the tip of snow piles, waiting to cross the street, and you hold your breath, hoping their balance is as good as they think it is..and they don't tumble in front of oncoming traffic.
Others walk down the street, even more cautious adults, as sidewalks on the main roads are not cleared.
The sun is shining, the sky was blue earlier, and wow, it is lovely outside.

Lots of snow! Had a foggy morning and everthing was coated in white. Splendid morning, still enjoying the winter.

Pinga, I didn't realize the seriousness of the state of affairs down east, when I posted above. I woke up this morning to a news storey about "snow rage" in Montreal. Apparently, some guy was threatening his neighbour with a fire arm for something attributable to the snow fall. It must be ALOT of snow. Just like you did with hay a few years ago, Ontariens can feel free to ship their snow out here!

Here in the southern interior of B.C. there are still patches of snow, but the grass is greening on the south facing slopes and crocusses and snowdrops are showing.

I can see my sidewalks, and my back patio..It is a miracle!
Maybe by easter, we will see the driveway again.
The compressesd snow turned to ice is treacherous..and being gravel, not much we can do about it. (though gravel is better for environment..right?)

I live in BC so flowers are blooming. However I HAVE to QUALIFY that to note that MY front yard is still covered in snow (3 feet in places) because my house is north facing with lots of trees. However, we are in the enviable place that we can go for a bike ride in the morning and drive 20 minutes and cross country ski in the afternoon.

The green grass never leaves the Lower Mainland of BC, plus most of Vancouver Island. Even under the snow, 'cos it only lasts a few days usually...

The snow is almost gone and the grass is visible. Yahoo!!! Soon my pool will be thawed and warming for those hot summer months. We are in Lyn Ontario and the creeks are running full. I love the sound of water as long as it's not in my basement!!! I love the promise of spring but not the dirt. I guess that is what those April showers are for.
