this pope has to be the worst i've seen in my lifetime.
he is trying to take the catholic church back to the good old days of selling indulgences.

No wonder churches are losing members. Religious propaganda should be kept in the closet.

This sexual abstinance stand is all well and good for Catholics. But it will not protect anyone who doesn't follow the Church nor the victims of rape by those who do not follow the church and abstinence. The church sees "ideal" but not "real". "REAL" is the fact that we live in a fallen world.

Heck, even Sarah Palin's daughter said that sexual abstinence among teens is not realistic. And that is North America. There are also many cultures where teenage pregnancy is seen as proof of female fertility, where teenages girls are possessions. My word, Catholicism should be doing everything possible to protect people from things like AIDS. Where abstinence is unrealistic... well, Pope Benedict can do the math.

The old pope did not believe in the use of condoms either. He did seem to be more pleasant though.
I work with someone who grew up in strong catholic household. When I first met her she was quite proud of this. In the last two years she is starting to question not only her church but also her faith...

To say that condom use is part of the cause of the spread of HIV infection is appallingly ignorant is what I think.

... he then went on to say that smoking cures cancer.
