Are you kidding? People with his kind of money don't do jail time. I hope I'm wrong.

I can just see a new season of OZ based with a charachter based on Conrad Black. He woud soon take over and be running the prision, and all of the other inmates would be terrified of him.

This forcing the priest and the nun characters to rexamine their belief systems, as not only is this new charactor this evil, but like Black he would among the most devout Roman Catholics.

I don't like questions that are phrased this way. Should Conrad Black do jail time? More than likely. Will he? Well the jury hasn't even judged his innocence or guilt.

I kinda agree... I don't really care about him or his future. If he goes to prison it won't be the prison I'd choose, and if he doesn't go to prison it will not change my opinion of him. He is a vain amoral greedy corrupt capitalist in the best/worse capitalistic sense. With or without a criminal record, he will still be all those things. Did I say vain?

Just for God's sake don't give him the Order of Canada in the end.

First, why would anyone buy stock in a company which is totally controlled by one person and for which no rules of governance apply?

Many people do it but why? I don't know! Making an investment decision such as this requires an assessment of all the risk factors. These factors were well known by anyone at the outset.

In this case, there was a an investment group who realized that there were questionable business practices and apparently bought stock with the idea of intimidating the controlling managers into making a financial settlement.

Now, that the government is involved there will be nothing left after court costs for anyone to win anything!

As I see it, what was going on was well known, and anyone damaged went in with their eyes open.

Why do we even concern ourselves with a situation like this? The phrase "Honour among thieves" comes to mind.
