September is a pretty expensive month in the Some household with choir, cubs, band, choir, and violin.  So, with that in mind I decided to go to my son's school website to see if they had the school supply list up yet so I could see if I could recycle things from last year and pick up some stuff here and there.  Anyway there was a letter to the parents under the heading of school supplies saying that the school is purchasing all the supplies with $35 due the first day of school.  Considering that school supplies cost us over $50 last year even with some recycli

        So I was just wondering what people think of the education system and how it works. Do you think students should have grades or marks? It seems like students don't learn as much as they could because they focus on getting good grades, instead of actually understanding a subject. For example, cramming information the night before a test might help someone get good grades, but will they really understand thoroughly or remember the information later? It seems so pointless to take a course, do loads of work and then not learn much at all.

I'm a young man (recently turned 17), doing well in school, trying to set myself up for life later on.  I've never really been one for parties, drinking or smoking (mary jane is quite rampant here).   Recently I've started getting back into the dating scene after taking a lengthy break.  I've always been interested in things like philosophy, and I've learned to keep an open mind, which in turn has taught me a good deal about life.

So I've been feeling quite restless for the last year or so. The reason why? I'm in highschool. That's why.

I can't wait to be done. I want to go somewhere else and meet new people. I feel that school is really tying me down right now and stopping me from doing things I've always wanted to do. I plan on taking a year off to work after I graduate. I can't wait till then. Some of my closest friends are at least three or four years older than I am and they have been out of highschool for years. I really envy them.
