He passed last night. We always knew this could happen. Doesn't make it easier.
Right now, we're planning to celebrate Carter's impact on our world on Friday, and it looks like it will take place in Woodbridge.
I want to thank each of you who sent well wishes, moral support, and even stuffed animals.
He was the best son a father could ask for. I'm so happy we had him for four years.

There is a time when words fail. Like when the hope that seemed to be growing for him ends this way, even knowing it was a possible outcome. My condolences, and virtual warm hugs, to you, your wife, and your daughter.

Chansen, I am sorry for your loss. So sorry.
I am thankful for the time you took with him, for your belief in him, and your ability to help him laugh, and walk, and do so many things with his family.
You enabled him, in a way that only one could hope to enable a child.
Circle with your family, let them love you, hold each other.
Carter is a loved little boy.

Thanks all. We'll confirm the arrangements today. Claire is at the birthday party of a classmate, of all places. She needs to smile today. There are ponies involved. She deserves ponies.
.
Please keep this here for now. Facebook can wait. Not sure how it would happen, but some of our friends are off having fun today, and we can tell them later. Let them have their family day.

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. Carter was a great spark of life and brought a lot of joy to all around him. I enjoyed following his story and progress. He was clearly a guy with a lot of spunk and drive. He was lucky to have the wonderful parents he had. I wish I could offer a hug in person. Consider yourself hugged from afar.

My heartfelt condolences to you, chansen, and to your wife and daughter.
“He was the best son a father could ask for.” He was charming, fun, a marvellous little boy. And when adversity struck, he still showed all those wonderful qualities along with strength and determination, matched by the love, presence, encouragement and inspiration of his family. From what you have told us and showed us in your postings on WC, Carter had the best family a son could ask for. Your family is rich in love. May your memories of those four treasured years sustain you through this difficult time.

I just heard and I am weeping. He had such a profound impact on my heart and I thank you so much for sharing one of the most truly amazing and inspirational journies of love that I have ever had the privilege to witness.
Take care Chansen and may you find the strength to endure the coming days by holding high the example and legacy left to you from a very young boy, who struggled through the worst and best of times, not to win the race but finish it well.
I will miss him.

(((((Chansen, Mrs Chansen and Claire)))))
My eyes are leaking as I type, trying to find suitable words to say in the face of such tragedy. I have no idea how anyone copes with the loss of a child, especially not such a special one. Resilient, funloving, mischievous, adorable (and adored), inspiring and overflowing with courage, Carter was all this and more. His physical presence will be missed but I hope his laughter will continue to ring in your hearts.
I wish our homes were closer as I would have felt honored to have a seat at the memorial gathering on Friday.
