Can we ever be grateful enough? Can anyone ever be gratful enough?
Do you think we express gratitude, for all that there is...and what are we being grateful for?

Well, I'll tell you why I'm not grateful:
poverty, the right wing, rent, no rent control, the methodology of the mental health system ( arhaic, insane and addicted), the cost of housing, the methodology of immigration, people who fall through the cracks; all the time, people on crack, kids on crack, kids who die on crack, cracks in the environment, cracks in the ozone layer, issues with First Nations, homelessness, anti-socialism, corporatism, and it's all better here than it is over there so we're all supposed to get male gender sex changes, strap on an appendage, apply false shoulders and go out there and just be MEN.

What does having been to the US have to do with anything ?
If you think they are so much worse off than we are you're kidding yourself.

the "right wing" and the "anti-socialism" are far worse there
And our health care system is superb compared to america's system, or lack thereof

As someone who is currently a cog in the health care system you like most Canadians have no idea how cracked and broken it is ...
Most people have blind faith in systems until they become a casuality to it ...
Here is a piece of advice

I know how cracked and broken it is, but here's the clincher:
not nearly as broken as the american system.
hence the "blah blah compared to etc."

They benefit in other ways ..... America is after all a land of opportunity ..... something that we havent been for a long time

I fail to see where that theory arose from.
Besides, if that's how you feel, you have the opportunity to go to America...

Oh I'm planning to go somewhere I can get the full $$$ for my education and experience .... working on my masters though .... that's gonna take a few years .... the way of lot of professionals are going especially in the health care field you can make way more and have exemplary benefits and retirement funds.
Where does one go when home no longer feels like home ?

heh, maybe you should get your masters in the target country, given you wish to move.
Jesou...do you not realize that the university systems / education have significant support through our Canadian tax dollars and systems?
** note: this type of behaviour frustrates to me to no end.....

What's wrong with that?
why are people so loyal because our grammas and grammps immigrated here steps ahead of the third reich or something ...... to the system that screws them the most .... do you think there are not other places to be happy and live well ? people who feel that way have obviously never been anywhere else .... you wanna hold on to a dying province or country so be it that's your right but my right is to go where I feel I can benefit the most .....

Sure that would explain the insane hike in tuition fees and then not get the job that a person is qualified for ... why because the govt does not make it easier for companies to set up shop here and create jobs that is how much your PM cares about you.

Pinga - what's your point? Couldn't it be argued that my parents 30 years of paying taxes into the publicly subsidized university system (even more so than most given the wide-eyed "progressive" taxation schemes...) gives me the right to get an education in Canada just like the next guy? My parents were denied the possibility of privately planning for their childrens financial education needs in the future by virtue of government enforced laws requiring that they fork over 50% of their earnings to subsidize a public system. I'm quite content to benefit from their sacrifice. What I do afterwards is my business.

Jesouhaite, the better candian universities are just as good as nearly any american university, for 1/4 the cost or less.
For example, I hear University of Alberta was rated the third best engineering school in North America. #1 was MIT

Oh I agree I'm just saying that there is a world out there that a person can flex their higher education with and not just stay at home.
