What's with all the telemarketers wanting to record our voices these days?

I just finished speaking with a woman from Rogers Wireless. Nice enough sounding person. She called on a "courtesy call" to ask if we wanted to continue on our current cel phone plan or change to another. Before she discussed that with me, however, she informed me that the phone call would be taped to insure quality customer service.

"No thank you." I replied.

"All calls are taped, sir" she responded.

There are no more secrets in the world, because of websites like WonderCafe and other social networking services that encourage more and more people to write and share articles, tweets and texts and photos. These basic social media tools have made the internet a very fertile landscape for both positive and negative ideas, and these transmittable notions can really affect a business's bottom line.
