I have posted my message for Oct 21 in a blog.  In it the overriding theme is truning the world upside down in many different ways.  In particular I use the stories from Mark 10:17-52 as examples.  Elsewhere in the service I will briefly refer to the tendency of revoltuionary movements to become status quo movements: PRE in Mexico; Masons which started as the only safe plalce to discuss politics and religion to a place where discussion of religion and politics is discouraged, and the church.

Turn the World Upside Down (Mark 10:17-52)

The Russian revolution was not caused by communists. It was caused by Tsars and an aristocracy (from which Ignatieff is descended) that abused and betrayed the people entrusted to them. If it had not been for the Tsars and the aristocracy, nobody would have paid the slightest attention to Lenin.

The Cuban revolution was not caused by Castro. It was caused by dictators like Batista who were sustained by American business working through the American government. If that had not been the case, nobody would have paid any attention to Castro.

"We were just wilting, sagging, demographics got us, wearing down, mainline sliding toward the sideline, burdened by buildings, going limp, troubled by the numbers, cutting back, ready to throw in the towel.

Christ got up and said with a smirk, “To heck with the institution! Let’s make a revolution! Anybody got a match?”"
