I could have taken the cloth. When I was sixteen, our tiny church (Crystal Springs UC in Montreal) had a dynamic minister who convinced eight of us to enter the ministry. I was all set. But there was a catch. Rules for theological school were tough, then. You had to have a high school leaving certificate. I didn't. Still don't. So I had to become an office boy instead.
But if I had made it....
Can't say I have the answers. Let me just state the things running through my head about our civilization or lack of it. Wolves are an example of a warlord survival mechanism. The alpha wolf being not much different to the human warlord.
The starving wolf needs to be loyal to the alpha wolf in order for the pack to survive and perpetuate his genes.
Are humans much different?
I am sorry that the present world events are making me so cynical.
I saw the film Alive many years ago and it was one that moved me profoundly and taught me something important about mankind, and I never forgot it. Today I finished listening to the story written by Nando Parrado of his ordeal in the Andean mountains in the early 70's, and how he escaped.
This really is an ad - and it is for God.
Sometime this week, I will have an article on a large, national blog www.thenewsmark.com
it is on what religion means to me. You might not agree.
I wanted to start a thread on the current situation regarding the Influenza outbreak in Mexico.
I am concerned about a recent CNN report that stated that the virus was shown to have DNA from the Swine, Human, and Avian Influenza viruses. I am concerned that we may experience another pandemic and that our governments are not giving us enough information and the information we are getting is "toned down" for our benefit.
