I knew this girl who could finish a SUDUKO game in 3 minutes flat. She once tried to get me to play it when I was drunk, and speaking truthfully, I told her I was not as smart as I let on. She had a really great job, a nice car, and white teeth that emanated the most beautiful smile with only one dimple. I have met many girls since her, but none quite like her. She was kind, sweet, endearing and considerate. She came at a time in my life when all I wanted to do was flail, drink whiskey and numb the pain.
I have been going to a lot of concerts lately. The artists are my age. They also have Bachelor of Music Degrees.
Instead if inspiring me to practice more they are having the opposite effect. I am remembering when I performed A LOT more and with good musicians. I am still good but I have not been performing much and not as good as I was when I graduated and was practising 15 hours per week. Getting a job and life interferes with that.
Way back when the world was young and I was in Sunday School at a little mission church in Montreal called Crystal Springs, i remember hearing of church groups which, I think, no longer exist.
One was the United Church Women's Year. Each member was, as I remember it, a Day. The officers of the lowest level were Weeks. Then there was a smaller number of Months. And the president was the Year. Does anybody remember this? Or what it did?
