shale gas - New Brunswick

The shale gas issue is getting very, very hot down here. The government, bought and paid for by the Irving government and by other big money, is determined to ram through more shale gas exploration - no matter what public opinion might be. And the collusion of the irving newspapers  (which is all of them) is obvious and lying and malicious.

I would not be surprised at violence - perhaps incited by the billionaires. Certainly, we know that the RCMP is spying on environmentalists, and is giving bienniel reports on them to the council of canadian CEOs.

So. How are things iin Haiti?

There was a time when Haiti was front page news. Then, quite suddenly, it stopped. There was a magic moment when it appeared just for one day on the front page of The Globe. The story was a very misleading one about how the Haiti schools are helping the children deal with the tragedy. It neatly failed to point out this was one school, for rich kids, and that most Haitian children have no schools at all.

There has been almost no dicussion of why the US aid (and some others) consisted so largely of soldiers.

lucky Haiti

I have a blog that so far deals mostly with lying and propaganda in our news media. I'm always looking for examples of how our news media act as pimps for governments or ownership or ideologies. Good example in today's Globe and Mail. Front page. May 14

It's a big picture of two girls in a classroom. They're lively and smiling at each other. Below, in big letters. it says Haitian children are finding safety and help in recovering from trauma in their schools.
