My mother's condition deteriorated severly over the weekend and I called the palliative nurse to arrange for her to go into hospital. They found a bed and my brother went over there to admit her. At that time they told him that she has hours to days to live. I spent the afternoon and evening at the hospital and plan to go back in the morning.
I got some good news today. My mother's condition has been deteriorating very rapidly over the past 2 weeks and we thought for sure it was because the tumor was growing, but we got the results from her MRI and the tumor has actually shrunk. The deterioration has been caused by the water retention that is a side effect of the steriods that she is on. They cut the steriods by one pill a day for this week and will be reducing them by half a pill a week until they find a balance between the side effects and the benefits. She cannot have another course of chemo unti
i just saw on my server that patrick swayze finally succumbed to pancreatic cancer...
that guy was my teenage heart throb in 'dirty dancing'... and my hero in 'ghost'.
i can't believe he is gone.
Dear Wonder Friends,
As some of you may know, I have been in hospital since April.
I'm curious as to what you guys thought of the dance number choreographed by Tyce and danced by Mel and Ade this past week. (Here's a link):
I am setting up a section of my web site (accessiblechurch.ca )that will have links to current news articles and Blog postings that deal with issues of concerns of disability, illness, and Faith. Today in the New York Times there was this article which I though was so well written that I should post the link here.
Hi all
Some of you may know that my mother has terminal brain cancer. Her last MRI, at the end of Dec. showed no growth in the tumor, a really good sign.
Do you think that sugarless pop causes cancer? I have heard that it does and I have heard that it doesn't.
Yesterday my youngest daughter, 23, graduated from Simon Fraser University - we went to her Convocation. I got cancer when she was just 11, and was told basically that I would probably only live a couple of years. Now I'm suffering from some form of debilitating arthritis and I'm on disability 1/2-time. I was getting pretty whiny about it.
