Lament

I learned recently that Lamenting is a very important aspect of our spiritual and emotional health. I find that I lament a lot but most people see it as complaining. I have these deep passions inside of me regarding justice etc. and sometimes it becomes so pent up I just have to release it in writing in any way I can; thus a lament.

I'd like to hear your laments. Let it out. This should be a safe place to vent about those things that just make you wince inside. Feel free to go at it. I wont judge you.

Pop culture...is a tool to make the populace compliant.

Im not here to start a fight.

Im not here to troll.

But dont you see the way that popular culture has taken the people's focus from issues that are relevent to their lives, to trends, celebrities, and generally keeping up with a constant cultural revolution?

Grant MacEwan College: a Culture of Deception?

See video

My video response to a May 2009 letter from Alberta Advanced Education Minister Doug Horner, written, he said, at the request of Premier Ed Stelmach, in response to a post I did in April 2009 on my fakirscanada.spaces.live.com/default.aspx  site regarding Alberta Auditor General Fred Dunn's reported concerns, regarding the "culture" and "the tone at the top" of Western Canada's largest tax-payer-funded public college, Grant MacEwan College.

biblical vs. cultural morality?

For those of you who would self-identify as Christian - do you find yourself 'shaped' more (in a moral formation sense) by the bible or by prevailing moral culture (i.e. what secular society values as good/moral)? I'm not saying they don't overlap - they certainly do - but they aren't always in agreement by any means. If there's a conflict between them (real or perceived), how do you go about deciding between them? Do you wish one shaped you more, or less?

Or do I even have my question wrong? :') Let's hear what you think.

Why, Oh, Why Do The Young Say Such Things?

I took the bus home today (as a Uni student with no drivers license as of yet, public transit is my primary method of transport), and sat in front of four rather talkative young people.

I myself am one such "young person" - for those who've seen my profile, the 18-29 range - and I consider myself mature and considerate. So I was sitting there, listening to my music (one song, over and over, in preparation for an English course assignment), and even with it fairly loud, I could still hear the constant swearing of the young man behind me.
