prophet
Do you feel that you are a prophet?
Are there charactaristics that you have that put you in this category?
If you think you are a prophet, is this just ego?
Would you know a prophet if you met one?
What do you think?
In worship this week I am talking about the riskyness of being a prophet.
In Scriptural terms prophecy is all about telling God's truth, not about forecasting the furture. ANd because God's truth often appeared to go against those in power prophets often found themselves in hot water. Imprisonment, banishment, or execution could follow the task of a prophet.
Yesterday NASA launched a rocket powered probe to search for Earth like planets.
How can religion hope to keep up with the endless curiosity of the human race?
Well, I don't have the answers, just my own opinions, and beliefs.
Here are some questions and answers regarding my view.
Who created the universe, and how long did it take?
a) God six days
b) God, we don't know
c) The Big Bang, it still isn't done
I choose to ignore those options and create one of my own.

I'm guessing alot of people will be drawn to this thread because the title implies i'm going to argue against the divinity of Jesus.
And....I'm not. I strongly disagree with it, and am open to discussion, because I have a lot of ammo on the subject, but I respect you all at the united church and don't want to do that.
What i'm actually here to do is ask a question.
