What's the purpose of this guy? More than 5 years ago, I have begun to reject the concepts behind hell, Satan, demons, fallen angels and whatnot. While I'm Christian, I just don't see why he has to exist.
In fact, I think it's scape-goating that brought him into Christianity. People didn't understand concepts like the unconscious, dreaming, psychology in general and blamed the devil and demons for their thoughts and the "voices" they heard.
Well, that's my opinion. Do you believe in Satan?
Reading threads this morning and looking at scriptures for Sunday, it has come to mind that we are "possessive" people. Why do we think that God is ours? That we own God. That no one else has the right to know God. It is not a pleasant trait, imo.
What do you think?

Much like the walled cities and towns of medieval Europe, there are now gated communities in every major city in the United States, and they are increasingly common in England, France and Spain (indeed some would say they never really went away in Europe). The gated community is a new / old form of community lifestyle, relatively free of crime. These confines attract retired couple and young families.
Well I have recently met probably the most amazing person ever. His name is Feroz and he is a Muslim. He lives in my town. He isn't just any Muslim though, he is one of the most learned Muslims...like...ever. He has permission from all 7 of the major Sufi orders to teach their ways (he is one of only 2 people in the past half century to achieve this), he has worked with the Prime Minister, done Akido training for CSIS, and has an incredible intellect.
Genties & ladlemen,
This thread's intent is to start a series to examine certain systems of truth that are quite prevalent today, trying to take a look at the nuance instead of the quick n' dirty tribalisms or politics.
Like that famous Thomas Henry Huxley quote:
I have been watching the God in America series on PBS.
It is absolutely jaw dropping and it makes me weep sometimes.
I am really questioning society's understanding and application of the concept of freedom and liberty.
As Christians ....what do these words mean to you?
For those of other faiths and those of no faith at all (please take the word faith in its intended context) ....may we have your opinions please?
This forum is a great place to discover and examine each other's understandings.
