Are you a GLBTT person or ally associated with The United Church of Canada? You are invited to attend a regional gathering to tell your story and voice your thoughts about the attitudes toward homophobia and heterosexism in the United Church today. This consultation has been mandated by the 40th General Council 2009.
I would like to use this opportunity to thank the Observer and freelance writer Larke Turnbull for not only the article on Cindy Bourgeois, but the choice of language and thus a true and meaningful understanding of the transgendered.
What wording has me so overjoyed?
In the lead in, in large letters it reads "Rev. Cindy Bourgeois is the first known transgender person to be ordained in the United Church."
"Known".
In one word, it embraced.
Last week Washington DC became one of the first places to allow. One of the first places to achieve equal marriage rights without being forced to by the courts. The GLBT press is giving credit to the churches in DC in making it happen.
I arrived a few minutes late to church. I had miss placed my iPod touch, and was looking for it before I left. (As I use it to follow along the church service).and I have been having trouble sleeping all week, so I woke up late. The church was fuller then it had been all summer (or any church service I had been to in the summer), so we had run out of Church Bulletins by the time I arrived.
First I haven't changed my username to better reflect my gender identity because I am not out with my son and he is often over my shoulder checking out what I am posting or reading. If I were to change it, I would change it to someboi.
The Alberta government has decided to delist Gender Reassignment Surgery (GRS) from its budget for 2009. What do you think about this?
