I'm a little bored and a little lonely (Someguy's at work and Somekid is out playing).
So what is/was on the supper/dinner menu tonight?
I haven't had supper yet, it is still cooking. I'm having porkchops with home made coating, potatoes and peas. I also have a batch of home made granola bars cooling. I sure hope that they turn out, it is my first try.
This is a very interesting site. It tells you how long to leave in fridge or cupboard and other interesting things.
What do you make when the days are really hot and muggy? I know lots of us lose our appetites and don't feel at all like spending time in the kitchen, but you can't have bbq every day -- or can you?
I love potato and pasta salads, but it heats up the kitchen to cook them on the stove top. Can you successfully microwave pasta?
I'd like to hear what you make and recipes for easy meals that don't require the stove or oven.
I like to pick up a bbq chicken from the store once in awhile. Lasts for a few meals.
Sometimes I can't believe the food that I used to think of as supper back when I was single and childless. Some examples: a bag of microwave popcorn, one or two bowls of cereal, a pie (it was a fruit pie), KD, and my absolute favorite Stove Top stuffing and a can of corn.
Come on now, I know that there are Wondercafers that have eaten or are eating things for supper that wouldn't pass muster being served to your parents. How about it? And if you don't do it anymore, do you miss it?
An interesting article from Alternet.org about the organic health food industry and who really is running the show. It is long but well worth the read....
Have you ever been hungry?
No, not the craving for
chocolate or chips
But the stomach roiling,
noisy gut emptiness that comes
from hours and days
without food
your stomach full
of pain
your body shivering, cold
and then alone, you are left with
dull ache, cloudy mind, desolate heart
because a small number have it all
and there are no leftovers for the rest
Have you ever craved justice?
so that each has not
more and more
but just enough
so all are fed
in body
in spirit
