So what is prayer to u? I am asking not as an atheist or a christian. I may not be an atheist. I am just wondering.
A 10-year-old boy rocks from one foot to the other in right field. The thought of a ball flying through the air at great speed toward him terrifies him. His fear of dropping the ball and failing in front of his team and his father sitting in the stands paralyzes him. Please don’t hit the ball to me. Please don’t hit the ball to me. Please don’t hit the ball to me. The batter knocks a grounder to the shortstop. Phew! Thank goodness.
Earlier this week, Ray Como of Alberta fell into a combine. This piece of machinery, for those unfamiliar with farm equipment, harvests grain crops. It cuts the stalks and separates the grain kernels from the straw. The grain stays in a holding tank while the straw shoots out the back onto the field to be baled later. To do such work, the inside of a combine is a complex arrangement of rotating blades, wheels, sieves, and elevators.
I'm after a printed prayer I found and used for worhip in the spring. It's in the hymns part of voices united (not the back part0
It's kind of/sort of a paraphrase of the Lord's prayer-similar sentimeents-but it talks about WATER
I acan't find it in the index of prayers-they are too vague
Anyone know this prayer and could tell me the number of it?
So Ramadan 2010 is a go. So far so good. I plan to read the entire Qur'an this Ramadan just as I did last. I also hope to engage people who would normally not be open to discussion in inter-faith dialogue and friendly discussion. And I plan to give my yearly alms on Eid ul-Fitr as per usual. All the while trying to be the best Muslim, and human being, that I can be.
A minister had been at the church for several months. In a conversation over coffee, one morning, I asked. "Does your partner have any passion that she would like to be involved in - Church School, Outreach etc"?
After a long pause ( I saw the wheels turning), he answered, "She has an active prayer life".
Fair enough. A person ( especially a clergy's spouse) should not be expected to do anything in the church if they don't want to.
My prayer times are extended these days with so many troubling incidents of violence and distress calling to be held in God’s love, peace, and justice.
