Good day. okay, today’s topic is Advent Calendars, eh?

Here I am, everyone, in sunny Spain!  It's strange to be in springlike weather (16, 17 degrees) while hearing rumours of torrid snow storms at home.  I thought just before I left that I'd miss the snow, but I'm reminding myself how lovely it is to wear shoes without socks outside and not lose toes to frostbite. 

 I'm dreaming of a pagan Christmas

Just like in 100 BC

With the White Mare gnashing amongst the mummers

With holly and a sacred tree

I'm dreaming of a pagan Christmas

With oak king, holly king and queen

Let us ring in the bright new year

With misrule and Saturnal cheer.

I have experienced Christmas Spirit before.  I really have.  That wonderful feeling of inner peace and contentment, of loving your fellow man, of kindness and goodness, that Hallmark Movie-of-the-Week feeling.  I have felt it.

But not for a long, long time.
