Hello all - it's been a while!
So... I was lucky to be asked to do a short reflection this Good Friday on one of the Lord's 'last words'. I was assigned Luke 23:32-25, the troublesome "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" reading.
I've posted my reflection-in-progress in my Blogs (http://www.wondercafe.ca/blogs/faerenach/good-friday-reflection) and would love some feedback.
Thanks so much, folks! It's good to be back.
Hello all - it's been a while! I've still been active in my church, albeit in a more limited way. But I am still passionate about worship, and I was lucky to be asked to do a short reflection this Good Friday on one of the Lord's 'last words'. I was assigned Luke 23:32-25. Here's what I've come up with - I would love some feedback!
This week, I had an interesting experience. I joined a group on Facebook which was a discussion and exchange of resources for Lent. Two notifications came - one for "Happy Ash Wednesday", and one for "Happy Lent". I sent a private message saying that while I understood the intent, "Happy Lent" and "Happy Ash Wednesday" didn't seem quite theologically apt.
Now that is a simple question, are there alternatives ... vertigo images of Black and White Chaos ... entering the pure realm of Love and no reason or the opposing realm of pure thought and loosing all desire to hurt the traveling companion?
Wired, wye'd or weird!
What scares a strong person more: love or intelligence?
Hi All,
We moved into our current home last June so this is our first spring with mature trees around the house.
The mature lot covers up my immaturity quite nicely.
So I notice movement all the time. Rabbits, Raccoons, Skunks and birds and think where are they all living. The Skunks were next door under the neighbur's shed. He relocated them to the local Golf Course. I watched him from afar.
Hi All,
Jennybeam, has lept out of the shadows and hit the cafe running.
I see that she is exercising her franchise and demonstrating fundamentalist tolerance by allowing us to read from her thread but demanding we not post to it unless we are Fundamentalists or Moral Absolutists.
I was kind of disappointed to see all the non fundy none moral absolutists hopping on the band wagon as I was wondering if there really was such a huge contingent of fundamentalist moral absolutists lurking in the shadows.
Hi All,
Luke in the 27th verse of the 14th chapter of his gospel records Jesus as saying. "anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple."
Recognizing that participation in the WonderCafe is not limited to those who are attempting to be disciples of Christ I still wonder how the above verse might apply to our virtual community.
In the context of the passage Jesus is commenting upon readiness and preparedness in undertaking certain ventures be they building towers or defending against approaching armies.
Hi All,
Twice in the last little while there has been an attempt to reveal sockpuppetry.
I understand why.
It has burned us as a community and some of us are new to the whole idea that people would feel the need to create another layer of hiddenness to their identity.
At any rate what was sown is being reaped.
Unfortunately they aren't the only ones reaping. We are doing a fair bit of it ourselves.
Seeds of suspicion have been sown how do we avoid the harvest such seeds will yield?
Hi All.
Some five months ago ground was broken here and we were invited to roll up our sleeves and much around a bit.
Our thoughts and ideas were to be the seed sown with the hopes that much good fruit would spring forth.
Some seed fell onto hard packed earth where it was quickly gobbled up by the beasts that crawl and the birds that fly. If some of that seed was yours what would you want to reclaim of it?
Hi all,
Remember way back when in Debating Fundamentalists 101 Ezed compared the one lone fundamentalist drawing flack to a ninja taking on a roomful of other warriors?
It strikes me that the troll does pretty much the same thing.
Ninja-troll I wonder what you have to roll to beat that?
Anyway, if you've ever seen a Churck Norris movie (and if you haven't I applaud your sense of taste) you will be aware that the movie always ends with Church and the big baddie duking it out one on one.
