In The Moment

the okanagan is a vast cornucopia of vital pleasures, a heady mixture of semi-desert with lush lakes, orchards, ancient myths and villages, towns and cities...

one of those towns is Vernon.  t'were where my father is from.  his family's homestead is long gone, paved over by an industrial park...the willows that he and his family planted there by the creek's edge are still there

another place that hitches right up against Vernon is Coldstream.

I have been dreaming of this for half a decade.

I put this topic under relationships rather than health and aging bc it primarily affects interactions with other people, and that's the part that I'm the most interested in.

A few weeks ago, our news media carried many stories about the election in Iran and about the protests that followed. Much of that information came from twitter messages coming out of Iran.\, apparently thousand of them, and most of them critical of the government.

Predictably, that led to a lot of speculation that a new age of communication was upon us. No longer could oppressive governments control the news. The people, with twitter, are now in touch with each other, and the truth will out.

Maybe, but....

One of the major activities I provide my English as a Second Language adult students is the opportunity to work with their new language tools in their own offices or homes as homework.
