WonderCafe2 governance is based on a council model. Council is responsible for day-to-day running of the site and consists of the administrators, moderators, and treasurer.
Council is comprised of:
3 Administrators
5 Moderators
1 Treasurer
Position descriptions for all three roles as approved shall be attached to the council model.
I have just checked Survey Monkey and the results of the vote on the role descriptions are:
- 30 votes cast
- 28 in favour, 2 against, so the motion passes.
I have a church service to prepare this afternoon (no sermon, just Call to Worship and stuff like that) but I hope to kick off a discussion of the Council and how it will be nominated by the end of this weekend. Watch for it!

Voting is now open to approve the role descriptions that were posted for discussion in this thread:
The poll question reads as follows: "Do you approve of the job descriptions for the roles on Wondercafe2 as posted by Wondercafe2 Admin team?"
Please go here to vote: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/wc2roles
It is the duty of the treasurer to be a watchdog over all aspects of financial management, working closely with other members of Council to safeguard the organization’s finances.
In order to make Wondercafe2 run smoothly, there are various jobs that need to be done from doing the technical work of setting things up to moderating the discussions to keeping an eye (a sharp one) on the financial books. The admin team has defined these into three roles, or positions, and developed draft descriptions for each. We are putting these out to the community for comment, after which we will do final drafts and put up a Survey Monkey vote to approve them. The links below lead to the current drafts for the roles posted on the Wondercafe2 Administrator's blog.
Administrators ("admin” for short) manage the technical details of running the site. They may also perform mod functions as required.
Moderators (“mods” for short) monitor and manage the day-to-day affairs and interactions of Wondercafe2. Effective moderation directly impacts the quality of a forum, its appeal, and its usefulness as a community.
We have been a quiet over the last while, partly because we are all busy outside of the Wondercafe2 project and partly because we have had a lot to prepare as we move forward with creating this new community. What follows is an update on what is happening and an outline of where we are going and what we will be bringing forward to the community over the next 4-6 weeks.
The polls have closed, the ballots are counted, the scrutineers have signed off on the result. Now there is only thing left to do. Publicize the results. And for this ballot, no political careers were at stake (Bonjour, Mme. Marois).
We had 47 voters turn up at the polls, ten more than when we voted on the name. That alone is a good thing.
CH posted this in the Letting Go thread and I didn't think it appropriate to discuss in a thread about "letting go" so here it is.
I mixed up where this should go but here we go.
Do you remember at one time we talked about how interesting it would be on WC to have ,for example, the moderator, Gretta Vosper one or all of The Arrogant Worms, etc. to host a thread. Is that still in the works, maybe? They would probably want to get paid. But it would certainly be good marketing.
