This is a video from an American group called Common Ground. It is, IMHO, a testatment to the hope and power of working together for peaceful resolutions.

Much to the disappointment of the Chinese government who covet a Nobel in Sciences, on Friday October 8, 2010 the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Liu Xiaobo a long time Chinese writer and activist who has been held in a Chinese prison since June 2009.

realize that the gentle of heart value peace above all else, but be very careful what you wish for. As the old saying goes, you might get it.
Just a thought

I am borrowing something, my friend , David posted on Jae's thread. I hope he doesn't mind.
When i read this I immediately thought of Stepford wives, and the movie with Gregory Peck where he cloned a bunch of little Adolph Hitlers.
And I thought of koolade.

Today another Canadian died in Afghanistan. His name was Larry Rudd.
He was the 146th soldier killed and there are about 19 months to go before the end of 2011.
This is what I think we should do.
On Canada Day, on main street in every town, we should march for peace, now.
No political parties, no activist organizations, just people who want the killing to stop.
Will you march with me?
Please post your peace avatars here as was suggested on the Orange Thread. We will remember.
It's less than two weeks now until the launch or unveiling of the Charter for Compassion, and I'm very interested in that, and wonder if anyone knows a particular way or place it will be covered in the media so I can watch or listen? I've just read the transcript of the Bill Moyers interview with Karen Armstrong from last March and think she's doing a very good thing. Obviously a lot of people in the world think so, too! Anyone here interested in what's happening?

When I saw the web message that Obama got the Peace prize, I was pleased. To me, It was awarded because of what he stands for, not what he has done. He has visited African countries, giving them hope in their own leadership. He has extended the 'olive branch' to Iran. His mantra of reconciliation, and inclusiveness for all Americans, is in marked contrast to that of his predecessor. (On TV, I had watched G.W.Bush gloat: "People say I should reach out to other Americans. What the hell for?")
