I am trying to set up a part of our service where we sing one contemporary song that touches on the divine. I thought that we could do this once per month to start with. Songs that come to mind are Munford and Sons - I will wait for you / Michael Logan - St. Christopher (On my Way) - Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah
Does anyone have any other suggestions.
Thanks
I walked into this morning's service to find the Communion Table placed on the floor in the middle of the sanctuary floor and the congregation seated completely around it. Seating us this way somehow made Communion just a bit more real, more like like actually taking the meal with Jesus. This was a blessing.
I have a challenge for all who wish to participate. I would like you to design a worship/church service. You have to start with a clean page – don’t use anything that is comfortable for you now. The idea was sparked by a conversation I had with someone a few hours ago who says they don’t go to church as they don’t fit in, find it boring and don’t understand it.
You pick the theme of the service and build around that.
Some creative people are doing interesting things in Halton Presbytery - Milton area - creating very different experiences and spaces for encounters with Spirit. I'm definitely going to get to the Holy Week installation this year! This is a great article ...

The World Week of Peace in Palestine and Israel is coming soon, and there are now two full services and additional worship ideas created by United Church folks available, as well as links to other ideas for May 27-June 3.
This is also Annual Meeting time for a number of Conferences--these could be good ready-to-go resources for those doing pulpit supply!

I'm finally tackling my second service on the four classical elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water). This one will be Water. For the meditation, I'm doing a rather poetic meditation on the flow of water as a metaphor for the flow of life/time. Traditionally, we follow the meditation with a musical meditation. Normally, it's classical music from a rather lectionary-like three year schedule the sound guy worked out. I prefer to pick something that fits my theme, and in this case I have two popular songs that I've long been fond of that fit the flow idea:
