The United Church and other churches have policies against gambling and gaming BUT United Church people and other people buy lottery tickets, visit casinos, go to bingo, buy raffle tickets and generally ignore the policy.
I'm pretty much positive that this has been discussed before, but I'm too lazy to go dig it up. Onb another thread, the argument of whether or not women should be allowed as leaders in the church came up. So, this is the thread to dicuss this on. What is your inturpretation of what the bible says for and against women? How do you feel about churchs that allow or disallow women into ministry?
I am trying to collect some exterior photos of churches that have combined with senior or adult residences for a Powerpoint presentation. If you have one or more of your church please email it to me at mahonyd@cogeco.ca.
Thank you in advance,
Don
When I joined wondercafe a few days ago, I went directly to this very page. Convinced that my love for writing would give me something great to write about, some great introduction to the wondercafe community.
A rural Alabama church is stirring up Cullman County with a month-long focus on sex, including billboards that read: "Great sex: God's Way."
The Cullman Times quotes Jerry Lawson, pastor of Daystar Church, as saying a big reaction is exactly what he is looking for. "Absolutely, we wanted to shock people,” Lawson tells the newspaper. "Talking about the issue proactively is the key.”
I've been unemployed twice in the past ten years. And they were among the worst periods of my life. It's not just economic. Aside from the lost income, which creates it's own basket of problems, most who have been unemployed can attest to the range of personal and professional challenges it creates.
church- (This is what my dictionary says)
- a building for public worship, especially Christian, worship or religious servicse
-a denomination
-the organization of a church
- any religious body other than Christian; a non christian creed or congregation.
Awhile back John Stackhouse, of Regent College in Vancouver, wrote that conservative churches were growing while more liberal churches were diminishing. He mentioned the Anglican church as an example of the latter. The point he was making was obviously pro-conservative, as he was stating that liberal (or even moderate) Christianity can not offer people what conservative Protestantism can offer.
