As I got ready for church this morning - I was delighted to hear our UCCan Moderator - Right Rev. Gary Paterson - on the radio, in discussion with Michael Enright. I learned about his personal love of poetry - so I share it here with you ... starts at about the 4min49 sec mark on the clip.

Do you read any poety? Have any committed to memory?
All my life (or ok for years then) I have been quoting what I thought was the rubiat of omar kyam (sp)...
This enining I went on line to see if I had it accuratly...and found I weas quoting about 5%
of that almost never-ending poem! Wow! Just a shard for no reason at all:
Poetry that really says it all : beautiful, inclusive and profound:
Well, it's short and perhaps that's the best you can say about it.
Wandering the deep time
I saw the light of God explode forth
Rays of holy energy permeating me
Filling me, the Cosmos, with God’s Power
God’s Word
God’s Will
God’s Love
And I danced among the stars,
Singing the praises of the Most High
Who had lifted me to Heaven
And filled me with Holy Light.
Amen
I really do not spend enough time on Youtube I guess. I have made the wonderful discovery that there are poetry videos there. It began when Elanorgold favorited this video:
Think of water
Falling as rain
Bubbling up from springs
Running down as streams and creeks
Until they meet in the larger flow of a river.
Think of a River;
Water flowing;
Carrying silt and debris
From all the places it has touched.
From all the streams and creeks that have fed it
Think of the ocean
Receiving the water and all that it carries
From all the rivers
From all the streams
We have people visit the cafe, after receiving a sudden shock having lost someone or something.
Whether it be a life taken unexpectedly or someone facing a serious illness....a job lost or a relationship broken,....we often walk together in this stages.
Yet, we aren't always here, nor do people always wish to communicate.
