This is a little embarassing.
I believe that the central concept of Christianity is forgiveness. Indeed, I believe forgiveness is central to all understanding. For that reason, I have always (though long without knowing it) seen current events in a Christian context.
I have a long experience in speaking of current events on radio, television and in print - many thousands of times. Indeed, I have a number of awards for it, including one for best radio editorial of the year in Canada, and a second or third place for best newspaper column of the year in Canada - and others.
I recently interviewed Rev. Dr. Bruce Sweet, minister at Emmanuel United Church in Waterloo, Ontario. We discuss his local church, the United Church of Canada, and theology.

I came out from the cold into the United Church in Toronto a few years ago. As a new Christian, I was so excited about Jesus and being part of a community of believers. At first, the worship service was great and I felt really fulfilled. Then, the Minister retired and it took a while to replace him. In the meantime, I noticed that nobody at the church talked about religion or Christianity or the Bible or Jesus or anything. It was like those things were "off topic" or unpopular to discuss. I started to feel a little isolated.
Uneditable so, due to my propensity for making errors and later needing to edit, please go to the next post.
Hello all!
This message is for Treasurers and Administrators in pastoral charges, ministry sites & presbytery roles across the denomination: the Budgeting Tools for Treasurers 2012 is currently available on the Church Leadership Network.
It will be posted shortly on the main United Church site (www.united-church.ca; search "Budgeting Tools" but that may take up to a week. Since we've been getting calls already looking for this information, I wanted to spread the word as widely as possible.
