Where?

[Where?

There, when the helpless fear

claws icily at your heart]

There, when ignorance and intolerance

turn stone faced to your pain.

There, in your small daughter's wisdom

and your son's gentle smil

There, in the faces of friends

your unbidden tears, warmth of a hug

There, in the love you give

and receive

There, in the small voice whispering

you must, you can, go on

There, in the delicate veins of a leaf

moon bright in the cloud edged darkness

There, in words

Witnessing

1 Corinthians 9: 16 -23        Witnessing                           Feb. 8 , 2009
Mark 1: 29 -39

What does it mean to witness?  Paul lays out his mission to preach the Kingdom of God. In the passage from Mark,  we read of the beginning of Jesus mission to preach the kingdom of God.   Paul speaks of an obligation to preach the Kingdom.  Jesus creates a community to witness to the Kingdom.

God->Yahweh

Hello everyone. Not that it isn't obvious to any active members, but I'm new here. I'm not much for introductions, though; I'd rather you learn about me from my content, rather than from what I say about myself. Previous sentence included.

I've read several threads and tried to get a feel for the personalities here (to see how relevant my question will be), but it's difficult for someone who likes to just dive right in. Also, I did do a brief search for similiar topics, but I didn't see anything within the past week, so here I go.

Here is my question:

The Dead gods

"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." (Stephen Henry Roberts)

If there is no God what does that mean for us

Ok, this is short. If God matters, then there is meaning to our existence, and we have an outside opinion on the morality of what we do, and will be rewarded if we follow our morality. The point of our existance is to live in peace with each other, and to make the world a better place.

Did God Save Them?

155 people, all those aboard the plane that crashed in the Hudson River this afternoon, survived .

Did God save them?

Did the pilot save them?

Was it destiny or fate?

If one of these people dies a month from now by being hit   by a train, why would God save them today to have them die a month later?

Who are our Gods -- another take

Are you by chance a fan of :  Big Bang Theory, Dharma & Greg, Two & a Half Men, Cybill or Grace Under Fire?  If so, then you know the works of Chuck Lorre Productions.

As part of the closure, you will often see a vanity card.  If you have PVR, you may have paused on it to read them.

Here is one...tell me what you think? who are societies God's.

The Philosophy, Science and Art of Religions

On February 2, 2007, using the user-name 'turner'--my son's name and wife's family name--I posted a thread at scienceagogo.com in which I raised the question: What is your philosophy of religion, including atheism? As of today this thread has received over 710, 000 views.

http://www.scienceagogo.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=2&pa...

Obviously, on the Web there is much interest in the discussion of religion and all that the topic implies.
