Facebook conversations

Do you use facebook for conversations?

I do.  It's different than ohter media, but every medium is different.  A phone conversation is different than FB which is different than WC, etc.

I do miss the Wall to Wall feature though.  I found it was a bit better for longer conversations with one person that weren't private.

Facebook Is Not My Friend

I'm back in grade 4, my strange brain trying desperately to deal with things that other kids are adept with. Or a skating rink - everyone whizzing by while I'm just staying vertical.
I don't quite get it.
It appears I'm unable to manage even a small roster of "friends". Privacy is huge for me. When I first opened my account, it was easier since my "friends" were few and I could just phone them, so I just abandoned it for a year or so.

Social Media Shares: Social Justice, Alternative News

This is a place to share social media items that you have found.

Some of them may spawn threads to discuss them;however, it would be awesome if this thread was really focussed on the information that you feel is worth passing on to others.

Suggestion:  Pull the links, and put a short description of why you think it is awesome.

Consider it a library.,

Why?

Inexplicable social networking connections

Anyone else ever looked at their Facebook/Google +/Twitter friends and gone "Who is that and why did I friend him/her?" Just happened to me. I was checking my FB and I had a wall update from a guy I wasn't sure of. Checked his FB and it turned out that he's the pastor of the local Metropolitan Community Church. Now, all I can think of is that I friended him back when we worked with them and some other local churches (including at least on UCCan) on a service for London Pride.

Obituary: More complicated than one would think

Recently, I had to announce the death of my mother to her community

Deaths in our society are  traditionally announced through an obituary.

Wondercafe now on Facebook & Twitter

I just noticed that Wondercafe now has Facebook & Twitter pages.  Many discussions that appear on this website also appear on Facebook & Twitter in public pages.

Once information appears on Facebook, its near impossible to get rid of in the future, and they have control over it.

Personally, if I wanted to discuss on Facebook, I would prefer to choose to do so myself.

Any thoughts on this issue?

Favorite Facebook apps

So, recently I've gotten into the whole facebook applications deal. I must say, there's some pretty impressive stuff. I've done the farmtown, the restaurant city, what are some of your favorites?

Technology's Impact on Society - postive or negative?

Hi Everyone! I am conducting a survey for my psychology class. The topic is very debatable in today’s world. I was wondering what the impact new technologies have on our society, and I was also wondering what other people think about the issue. Do you think that technology is changing society? If so, is it in a positive or negative way?

Technology Taking Over

Let me tell you a quick story before I start the discussion.

I was online, on Facebook, at my church, sitting with a group of friends. I did the routine check for messages and notifications, and found that someone had sent me a friend request.

Amy Sullivan wants to be your friend. Confirm or Ignore.

Who's Amy Sullivan? I didn't know her, so I messaged her asking how she knew me. Luckily enough, Amy was online and quickly messaged back, saying she knew Gabby, a friend of mine.

Gabby happened to be sitting next to me.
